Who are we?

A manufacturer of carbon sports equipment since 2006, we specialize above all in ski touring boots. As outdoor enthusiasts ourselves, we place a strong emphasis on our environmental impact. At Gignoux, we are driven by a desire to create ever more high-performance products while meeting today's challenges.

Our approach

EURL Gignoux is located in the heart of the Belledonne massif, in Saint Martin d'Uriage, Isère. Just 15 minutes away, we can put on our skis and test the latest prototypes in the field.

Our products are entirely handmade in our workshops, and most of the machined or injected parts come from local suppliers. This proximity is essential for the company, which aims to limit its carbon footprint and places great value on the responsiveness and quality of its relationships with suppliers.

Our Story

"I made my first fiberglass ski boots in 2001. The following year, I used lighter and stiffer carbon. I never imagined that one day it would become my career..."

2006-2007:

2006 was the year the company was founded by Pierre Gignoux himself. The goal was to create lightweight boots for ski-alpinism racing. This led to the birth of the first XP 500 carbon boot in 2007 (Photo).

2007-2015:

From 2007 to 2015, the development and improvement of racing boots became more refined, eventually leading to the release of the Race 400 in 2015. A high-performance boot designed for racers, the Race 400 would become THE racing boot for Gignoux for years to come, notably with a weight of just 500g (for a size 26).

2015:

In 2015, the Isère-based factory introduced a brand new, even more versatile boot: the Black. This boot is designed for both daily mountain use and competition. Two of the Black's major assets are its high gaiter and full liner, allowing you to ski in all types of snow while keeping your feet dry. Additionally, its rack-and-pinion closure system provides comfort and precision for the descent.

2015-2019:

In 4 years, Gignoux further developed its range of boots by improving its classic Race 400 into a new model: the Race Pro. This new, even higher-performance invention retains all the strengths of the Race 400, with the added bonus of a tensioner system that now offers precise instep adjustment, allowing for instant tightening when switching to downhill mode to save even more time and aim for the podiums of the biggest races.

In 2019, Gignoux signaled its desire to extend its expertise to cross-country skiing. Indeed, 2019 marked the release of the Skate Pro, a cross-country ski boot designed for all competitions. It incorporates Gignoux's expertise in handmade carbon work for unparalleled lightness and technicality.

2019-2022 :

Since the company's inception, competition has always been at the heart of our products. In 2020, the launch of the Mountain boot was the exception to the rule. Indeed, the Mountain is a boot with a different approach than other models. While keeping lightness at the core of the product, it allows for skiing with wider skis. The Mountain carbon boot focuses on downhill enjoyment while maintaining the uphill comfort that Gignoux is famous for. Its closure systems and gaiters, which fully cover the high liner, ensure even greater comfort than the Black model. The newest addition to the range is intended for ski tourers who want no compromises, whether going up or down.

In 2022, Gignoux and its Mountain model won the innovation prize at the French Outdoor Awards 2022, organized by Outdoor Sport Valley.

2025:

True to our values of excellence in innovation, we are pleased to present the second phase of the Race Pro, the highest-performance ski-alpinism boot on the market. The 2025 Race Pro features an improved tensioner system, allowing for easy and even more precise adjustment.

With this evolution, the Gignoux carbon touring boot range stands strong with 3 flagship models. From competition to high mountains: The Race Pro, The Black, and the Mountain.

The Team

Pierre Gignoux

Pierre Gignoux

Pierre is a born inventor, and it is in ski-alpinism that he is at his most creative. With a PhD in biomechanics, he worked in research and development at Rossignol for 10 years while continuing to develop his own boots. A former competitor, he retired from high-level sports in 2005, founded his company in 2006, and now devotes himself to developing his products, testing prototypes above his home in Chamrousse in the Belledonne massif.

Eric Wahl

Eric Wahl

Éric was the first Gignoux employee! From a small workshop to an innovation lab and finally a leading ski-alpinism brand, he has seen every stage of the ski factory's rise. Having arrived in the Alps in 2005 to enjoy mountain biking and snowboarding, he met his neighbor: Pierre G. As a product manufacturing expert, Éric is now in charge of after-sales service with a 5-star performance! Knowing all the inner workings, he is a member of the management team.

Gilles Peronnard Perrot

Gilles Peronnard Perrot

He started with the company in 2008; a craftsman by training, manual work holds few secrets for him. Today, he mainly handles the manufacturing of lower shells and is the go-to person for carbon work. Living in Chamrousse, his part-time schedule also gives him time to indulge in one of his favorite activities, which he practiced competitively for several years: snowboarding in an all-carbon version!

Brice Filliard

Brice Filliard

Brice is the teammate you want on your side! Equally committed to high-level skiing as he is to managing and helping the production team or finding innovative solutions to push boundaries, Brice is a "jack of all trades." Guided by his passion for snow sports, skiing quickly became his daily life when he was recruited by Pierre Gignoux. His days are filled with ski projects combined with his duties as methods manager.

Adrien Massieye

Adrien Massieye

A Grenoble native through and through, a seasoned skier, a handyman, and trained in composite materials, Adrien joined Gignoux 7 years ago. In charge of molding the cuffs, his material testing and dedication have driven the development of increasingly high-performance boots. Adrien is the proud father of 2 children. Originally a passionate skier, he now skateboards with his sons in Grenoble's skate parks and introduces them to the mountains of Isère.

Mathias Rimbaut

Mathias Rimbaut

Arriving in 2016 for an internship with the ambition of working in the outdoor industry, Mathias immediately clicked with the company atmosphere. The team, the work environment, and the products developed are all sources of motivation for him. Promoting the company became a natural fit; he puts his energy into making it known and working internally on organization. He is currently responsible for the financial and commercial side of the company and is part of the management team.

Marc Perrocheau

Marc Perrocheau

Although originally from Annecy, Marc is a Grenoblois at heart! A multi-sport enthusiast, he feels completely in his element in this young, dynamic, and ecologically committed company: "we share a lot outside of work, whether in the evenings or on weekends!" His scope of work ranges from machining to trimming and soling. He brings enthusiasm and joy every Monday morning, arriving on his standard bike with pastries!
